POWER AND CONTROLS CABLES FROM MODULAR WIRING SYSTEMS

home  about us   lighting   power  data   branch cabling  contact

MC and FACC cable from Modular Wiring Systems arrives on site ready to install, unlike traditional conduit and trunking methods.

It is pre-wired for you in our factory, eliminating the need for reamers, cable reelers, pipe benders, stock and dies, offsets, saddles and tin snips.

Installation times against traditional methods are reduced by up to 90% - the cable installs as fast as it unwinds. Total project costs, including material and labour, have been cut by up to 50%.

The only tool required on site is a roto cutter.

*A full range to cut cables of up to 48mm is available.

With three or four turns of the handle, the armouring is removed effortlessly, and without the possibility of damage to the conductors.

Features

  • supplied in easy to handle coils to reduce on-site storage
  • conductors are protected by an interlocking steel armour which provides excellent mechanical protection
  • the automated factory pre-wiring ensures a higher integrity to give much safer installation
  • supported by a complete range of snap fixings/suspensions to further simplify installation
  • patented one-screw gland further reduces installation time
  • permits design flexibility, simplifying co-ordination and re-routing when equipment is moved to a new position
  • by design and construction, the conductors are contained within an oxygen poor environment which, in combination with the steel sheath, can contain and smother fire and restrict flame spread
  • a certificate of Assessment has been issued by BASEC (British Approvals Service for Cables No. 91071893)
  • can be supplied under our unique Custom Cuts® service.

Installing conduit

First fix: cut..ream..thread..offer up..bend..re-bend..couple..fix saddles.

Second fix: draw wire and cables.

Installing MC and FACC cable

One fix: uncoil...cut...strip...clip.

We do all the pulling for you!

POWER - MC CABLE SPECIFICATION

Primarily intended for lighting and power wiring, MC Cable is a complete system installed in one process, eliminating the need for feeding wires through conduit.

Providing comparative levels of protection, the galvanised steel armour is far easier to route than rigid conduit.

To further simplify installation, cables can be supplied “modularised” , which also includes pre-terminating. (Please see details on the Custom Cuts® service).

The Cable

A flexible steel sheath forms a protective cover around the insulated copper conductors, earth wire, marker tape and overall cable tape. The main conductors are insulated with a combination of PVC and Nylon which provides excellent dielectric properties and added strength to resist abrasion.

MC Cable is suitable for use in numerous environments:

  • Commercial
  • Retail
  • Industrial
  • Exhibitions
  • Residential
  • Hotels

Safety

When correctly installed with the nominated accessories, MC Cable has been assessed as reaching safety standards equivalent to those specified in the 16th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations.

CONTROLS - FACC CABLE SPECIFICATION

Primarily intended for controls wiring, FACC Controls Cable eliminates the need for controls to be fed through conduit. Like MC Cable, FACC is a complete system installed in one process.

The galvanised steel armour provides comparative levels of protection yet can be routed much easier than rigid conduit.

An armouring service for specialist cables such as Cat 5 UTP/STP and Beldon type cables is also available.

To further simplify installation, cables can be supplied "modularised", which also includes pre-terminating.

(Please see details on the Custom Cuts® service).

FACC may be used in:

  • Ducts
  • Cable trays
  • Air conditioning areas
  • Other spaces
  • Exposed or concealed environments

..... or simply as

  • An open run of cable

Typical applications are:

  • BMS
  • Security
  • Access control
  • Smoke detectors
  • CCTV

ACCESSORIES

Custom Cuts® are standard cable sets pre-cut to desired lengths custom packaged for rapid retrieval and fast installation on site.

A range of glands are available, all of which provide excellent mechanical support and electrical continuity.

For connections to knockouts, patented type AMC and TB onescrew glands are recommended. Type PD is for connections to BESA boxes.

Custom Cuts® offer five ways to save money, accounting for a 60% saving on wiring installation costs.

Better Cash Flow:

Labour is usually paid on a weekly basis with associated costs such as pensions and National Insurance Contributions. Custom Cuts® lower these costs by reducing the amount of labour required on site. Materials are paid for on a monthly rather than a weekly basis.

Better Project Management:

Custom Cuts® are “smart” packaged according to the specification by floor, room or area. This provides rapid start-up with minimum handling.

Eliminate Waste:

Custom Cuts® are cut to the exact specification. There is no cable waste.

Less Supervision:

Custom Cuts® are all pre-wired at the factory leaving less to go wrong on site.

On-time Completion:

With Custom Cuts® no secondary operation is required.

Insulating bushes in addition to those supplied with the cable, are available.

Pre-wired cables naturally complement Modular Wiring, the two often being combined to provide a total solution. Other cables available include fibre and jacketed variants. Alternatively, specific cables can be armoured.
